See here (mostly)Temperate Under Water scenarios around Melbourne,. Australia. Our Ocean and bays temperature fluctuates between 10c to 20c . I am very interested in the Spider Crabs story and have 29 u tube clips on how they live their lives. The weedy sea dragon is another interest and I have 11+ u tube clips on how they live there lives. Included here is an observation of how sea dragons exchange their eggs, this is a first time this has been recorded in the wild. Squid ,cuttlefish ,Tasseled anglers, stingrays swell sharks and many more feature in other clips. Under the playlist called Seabirds feeding scenario you can watch our Little penguin and cormorants feed on baitfish. I have created my own playlist of my own videos in categories under some broad topics. This make it easy for those searching on scenarios seen in the Melbourne area. . Check the play listings or use the upload video listing (100+) of my own videos. Use the sort button to change the groupings.
Moulting Spider Crabs are lucky to survive.
Melbourne Spider crabs, normally are seen moulting during May and June. Full moon or at least a few days after are considered peek period. Watch the Crabs predators and you will notice the moulting for some individual crabs starts a lot earlier. 2-3 weeks sometimes. It seem to be a big mistake to go first. As soon a Crabs cracks its shell to moult...its body juices are easily detected and normally the "early bird" is eaton quickly. Moult together and you have a better chances of surviving to pass on your characteristics to the next generation. On this particular Spider Crab dive we had perfect conditions, clear and shallow water with full sun. We also had the aggregating Crabs, but at the beginning of the day we had no idea how good it was to become. This day was to be one in a million. Everything lined up for us. Spider Crabs are constantly eating. During the summer months and right up to the time of Moulting in May or June they can be found in weed beds in the shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay. There massive numbers must assist in keeping the bay weed growth under control.. Normally they only stay in the one place for a few days and must keep moving as their food will run out. Often there are other critters that will be sheltering or living I the same location. Most put up with clumsy sharks. Blue Devil fish also make the same ledges and caves their homes.
Baby North Pacific Starfish.Infestation.

Large North Pacific Starfish seem to arrive from no where. Suddenly they just appear. However the truth is they were there all along . Just tiny babies....settled after a larval stage. Eating tiny things and growing up unnoticed . Often covering everything, but so small the average diver will not observe them. That is until they grow a bit. AWW! BABY VEEMOS!
Such strange creatures. They evolved to lose their shells only to re evolve a completely different shell made in a completely different way.
Did you know that if a Sea-star loses it's leg, it will grow back, but also, the severed leg will turn into a whole new Sea-star?
Every minute you're alive you are surrounded by billions of spores and other such hatchlings from molds, bacteria, dust mites, you name it. Underwater, that billion becomes a trillion.

Amazing footage Pang. I have to tell you my Poodle Perri sat on my desk and watched the whole thing, she was fascinated. 😀
That is awesome!...

The smooth rays were impressive as well .... but outstanding footage of the crabs, for sure!!
Shrimp is all "how you doing, fellow octokids?"
They are like sci fi horror movie alien monsters, at 0:34, 0:42, 0:53, etc you can see why
Although it wasn't designed for it, that delicate shell does provide some considerable protection for its maker. Several times during this video we see fish trying to take a bite and clearly getting no more than a mouthful of hard shell: the fish swiftly retreats and as far as I can tell, doesn't come back. I've always been fascinated by both ammonites and Nautiluses since I first learned of them, and first encountered argonauts in Sir David Attenborough's Life on Earth when I was a child. There is just a couple of lines about them in the book, so getting to see video of them is a real treat.
Great footage as per usual Pang :)
cool iguana

You make a suggestion but choose a suitable song that does not have copyright issue. I might try it?
@@PangQuong I’m sorry. 😞 Pick some massage music.
The fish at the end: helo
Crazy cute!
You want to know what’s sad is this mamma octopus will do whatever it takes to defend her eggs and that includes not eating so she can be home defending her eggs. Because of that she will die from starvation to protect her babies and octopuses are very very smart animals. There are channels here on RUclips where people have created a maze with areas of the maze with some type of puzzle for them to complete so they can move to the next obstacle which could be moving something blocking an entrance to another part of the tank or unscrewing a lid to move on. One guy did this and at the very end of the maze the octopus as treated to a feast of all you can eat shrimp buffet. He did this because he got the octopus as a pet but he wanted to release the octopus but was afraid to do so since he or she had been in captivity. When he saw the octopus win against the maze he kept his promise and released the octopus into their natural habitat!
Wonderful video Pang!
Nice
It's all fun and games until the starfish roll up
Many then I thought 🫠💀.

We need to find a fish that likes to eat them
there has been some unconfirmed reports of Snapper having small North Pacific starfish in their stomachs ...

Now I know why I catch more toadies than whiting..
smollusks!!!
What happens to a crabs apron after they release there eggs does it close back up or stays open
Yes! the tail closes...and then they eventually march back away from the ocean into the hills.
Grow up quickly, baby octopuses😅😅
😯
Its not a war.. it’s a genocide
Whete abouts are the seastars ar Anthony's nose exactly. I'm part of a group who remove them and went for an exploratory snorkel yesterday but couldn't find sny
This footage was taken sometime back...around the time the area was last dredged .Midway out to the 5 knot markers . I was using my boat so it was not a shore dive. Mass groups of North Pacific starfish will come and go...I sure they will turn up again. If not there some where close. I have not check that area for about 12 month.
Squidward getting annoyed by Patrick
Thanks for the comments...any chance in English .
Ok this this is what I found...so hopefully roughly what the original comment was ...What an amazing planet we live on! What a variety of life in the seas! Interestingly, the Bible reports that the first living creatures on earth were sea dwellers. It says, "And God said, 'Let the waters swarm with many living souls.'" (Genesis 1:20,21). Surprisingly, starfish can regenerate lost arms, which is useful if a starfish is injured by a predator. It can lose an arm, escape and grow a new arm later. The arms of starfish contain most of the vital organs. The stars in the sky and the stars in the sea glorify the one who lovingly created it all: “How numerous are your works, O Jehovah! Your wisdom is visible in everything. The earth is full of your creations” (Psalm 103:24).

Amazing footage! Those looks like large fish (do you know what kind?) the birds caught! The fish are struggling, but the hungry Cormorants manage to fully consume (alive?!) it all okay? It looked like the unlucky things go desperately kicking sliding down that long throat! I wonder, do the large fish stand any chance of escaping if eaten in that condition? Maybe they can turn around inside the elastic throat/stomach and has a chance of survival here.
Yes the can swallow some rather big fish...which one would think was impossible until you see it. In this same Marina if the water is clear (and its seldom is) I have seen Australian salmon (our common name) but is not the traditional salmon ,dead on the bottom after these cormorant have been fishing the Botton for them. I guessing some do get away but are pretty much beat up by theses birds.
2:00 do you see a shrimp?
great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it...a favourite video subject. I cannot let them swim by with out videoing them.
